Asthma is an inflammatory disorder, typically of mixed origin, oftentimes accompanied by hayfever and/or eczema: Environment and nutrition both usually contribute. It therefore follows that good nutrition and avoiding allergens will improve, even reverse these conditions, which is exactly what we see — I have had many patients in my practice stop their inhalers or/and anti-histamines because they made these changes.

It is high time someone did. How many more victims before we understand that in this open, uncontrollable society we cannot let the fringes tyrannize us. We certainly have no qualms about infringing on other personal liberties when we find it advantageous. The idea that any American has the right to bear arms dates from the Wild West That has been a while by now–

The Real Biggest Losers? The Show’s Audience
14 Jan![]()
Unfortunately when the commercial media pay attention to something, it has to produce ratings. This show is like the rest of the TV-medicine: It is entertainment. Equally unfortunate, even public television is not willing to take up a cause on the basis of helping: it looks at rates and sales of self-help devices associated with the show. The biggest loser is the (unknown) percent of the public who would have used the information to help themselves, because weight and health can be taught to many through the media, just as it can be taught on a one-to-one basis.

The Whitehall study in the UK, starting in the 1960′es and ongoing, resoundingly proves that the stress of being subordinate and underpaid is detrimental to one’s health, with particular emphasis on cardiovascular health.

Comfort Food Anyone?
18 DecI have an aversion to a concept I have learned in my environment: “Comfort Food”. I think it must have been invented by the evil one. To implore upon me in my weakest moments, when I most of all need to be reaffirmed, that I need to destroy my body with sugar and trigger inflammation, is a strange idea, and, I suspect, invented by those forces that seek to prey on my instant inner child.
The idea that a bucket of ice cream would solve my problem seems to me equal to the old country warning about “peeing in your pants on a cold day” if you can forgive the simple straightforward language.
I see people who practice the Comfort Food, because unfortunately no one told them it would poison and addict them. Comfort all right.
Rain on your parade? Here are my references, look them up: Lustig, Schmidt. Nature 482 Feb 2012, Public Health: he toxic truth about sugar.
